lapel pin

Democratic lapel pins, are classified as "political lapel pins". They represent a certain political ideology, which in this case, sprouts from the heart and soul of the Democratic Party. The symbol of the democratic party adopted on their lapel pins, as well as other promotional items.is the "donkey". I'm sure you've seen this donkey somewhere before, from posters, on TV advertisements, on hats and stuffed toys.

The Democratic Donkey Lapel Pin is, most of the time, dressed in the colors of the American Flag, the red, white, and blue. If you've ever wondered regarding the origins of the Democratic Donkey, well, here's a short history of the four-legged political campaign symbol.

The Democratic Donkey
The Democrats didn't pick these animal labels, they simply got stuck with them. Their origin as the symbols for the Democratic party is attributed to an 1870 political cartoonist, Thomas Nast, who thought of using the donkey and the elephant (for Republicans) in the cartoons drawn for Harper's Weekly. Why he chose the donkey and the elephant is a somewhat complicated story.

The point being, this Thomas Nast was the reason elephants and donkeys are all over the place during current political campaigns.

Democratic Lapel Pin Types
The processing and design type of the Democratic lapel pin is based on its specific use. Aside from being a promotional means, as we know so well; these pins also make influential giveaways at events.and sometimes expensive gifts to important people. A gold plated democratic lapel pin donkey is quite common in these situations.

As to the supposedly prestigious and high society nature of politics, Democratic Lapel Pins are designed with expense and beauty as a goal, these political parties pride over their ideology, and with pride comes along monetary status.a cheaply made lapel pin does not bid well to its wearers.

To this, lapel pins of this nature, are built around the most expensive among all the lapel pin types, the Cloisonné. These cloisonné pins, also called hard enamel, are made by initially having a pattern die-struck from a copper-bronze metal base. A die is then designed to imprint a design onto the surface of the metal. The pin outline and any other cut-outs are cut using a mold. Enamel colors are then hand-filled with a glass-like powdered mixture. The colors are fired one at a time, at very high temperatures, usually at 1,600 F for around two to four minutes. This two step process makes sure that color bleeding is avoided. Lastly, the pins are individually polished by hand and plated with gold or silver.

There are many instances however, that the cloisonné process simply cannot meet the design goals, and may opt to use other processing types, such as Soft Enamel, which is almost just as good in image quality as the cloisonné, but cheaper. The Die-Struck is also a good choice for some Democrats, wherein they have simple donkey lapel pins made to order, with the electroplating in 24k gold.

Whatever the process you pick in making the Democratic Lapel Pins, be it a donkey, or an ordinary lapel pin with the colors of the American flag, try to remember that it's the ideology that counts, a simple direct message via lapel pin is best.
